Dental Bonding
Bonding is a conservative way to repair slightly chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth where a white filling is placed onto your tooth to improve its appearance. The filling “bonds” with your teeth, and because it comes in a variety of tooth-colored shades, it closely matches the appearance of your natural teeth for a more beautiful aesthetic.
Dental bonding is less expensive than other cosmetic treatments and can usually be completed in just one visit. However, it is worth noting, bonding can stain and is easier to break than other cosmetic treatments such as porcelain veneers. If it does break or chip, tell doctor Razdolsky or Tincher. Your bonding generally can be easily patched or repaired in one visit.
The team here at Lake Forest Dental Associates often recommends bonding for teeth fillings instead of silver amalgam to form a composite restoration. We have found that most patients prefer this type of composite filling because the white color is much less noticeable than silver amalgam fillings. Moreover, white restorations or composites do not contain Mercury which is a component in the silver amalgam fillings. Bonding fillings can be used on front and back teeth depending on the location and extent of tooth decay.
